HIP BAND
The Hip Band is a resistant elastic fabric band, finished with stitching and with a rubberized inner side so as to increase the grip and to make it non-slip. When placed above the knees, it is the perfect complementary tool in bending and hip extension exercises. In particular, it is specially suitable for squat and hip thrust, to facilitate a greater activation of the small-medium glutes and tensors of the fasciae latae, hence the name Hip Band or Resistance Band.
During the execution of squats with high overload, a band placed above the knees provides the user with a cue to correct the recurrent error of narrowing the gap between knees and leading the legs to assume an incorrect “X” position.
It is also popular due to its remarkable effectiveness in the training of the glutes (it is also called Glute Band). Indeed, it can be integrated as part of a training circuit specially dedicated to this goal, adding extra resistance when performing squats, lunges, sumo deadlifting, hip abduction, inner and outer thigh contractions.
The use of the Hip Band in combination with the Hip Thrust Platform Bench is particularly effective, as it determines a high work of the glutes (so-called “glutes squeeze”) during the performance of the exercise.
