EVA Tatami – Quality, Safety, and User Perception of Sidea Tiles
Tatami tiles cannot be perfectly identical if purchased at different times.
EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate) tiles, like all expanded foam materials, may show variations in color, density, or surface texture between different production batches. These differences are completely normal and are due to the manufacturing tolerances typical of soft materials and processing conditions.
During use, EVA also tends to change slightly under compression and friction, gradually adapting to the supporting surface, the activity performed, and the surrounding environment. It is therefore natural that a user who has become accustomed over time to their tatami may perceive a different level of softness, grip, or elastic response when new tiles are added.
Sidea is a leader in tatami production, and all Sidea tatami mats are manufactured using materials compliant with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 REACH, which governs the registration and evaluation of chemical substances used in manufacturing processes. This compliance guarantees the highest level of protection for health and the environment, ensuring that the materials used are free from prohibited or potentially harmful substances.
The choice not to use chemical plasticizers and stabilizing additives, together with the natural properties of EVA, may make the tiles slightly more subject to manufacturing tolerances and minor changes caused by use. However, this choice greatly enhances safety, as it contributes to full compliance with the REACH Regulation, ensuring that Sidea tatami mats are safe even for children and babies, who can use them with complete peace of mind for their first motor and exploratory activities.
