EVA TATAMI 2 cm – Grey – Black Color

EVA Tatami flooring with a thickness of 2 cm, featuring puzzle interlocking joints and a double grey-black color, designed for martial arts and sports activities in general where a high-absorption surface with an excellent degree of load-bearing capacity, stability, and grip is required. The optimal ratio between absorption and stability is due to the extraordinary mechanical characteristics of EVA: more “rubbery” and resistant compared to other polymers. Grip is guaranteed by a non-abrasive rice-straw embossed surface, making it suitable also for floor training like Primitive.

Made of EVA, the 2 cm Tatami is highly resistant, non-deformable, and hygienic; EVA is a closed-cell polymer and does not require glues or hazardous substances such as formaldehyde. The interlocking joints are designed to facilitate laying so as to make installation quick and practical, which is extremely useful in cases where the multi-functionality of the rooms requires frequent movements of the tiles.

The weight of 2 kg further facilitates movements. The reversibility of the tatami tiles, double-sided grey-black, allows defining specific work areas or choosing between the two alternative colors.

By definition and intrinsic characteristics, tatamis must be used barefoot, or with footwear without soles, sharp parts, and/or abrasive parts.

EVA Tatami – Quality, safety and usage perception of Sidea tiles

The tatami cannot be perfectly identical if the tiles are purchased at different times.

EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate) tiles, like all expanded materials, may present variations in color, density or surface texture between different production batches. These differences are completely normal and stem from the production tolerances typical of soft materials and processing conditions.

Over the course of use, EVA tends to change slightly under compression and friction, progressively adapting to the supporting surface, the activity performed, and the environment. It is therefore natural that a user, accustomed over time to their own tatami, may perceive a different degree of softness, friction, or elastic response upon the arrival of new tiles.

Sidea is a leader in tatami production and all Sidea tatamis are made with materials compliant with the (EC) Regulation No. 1907/2006 REACH, which regulates the registration and evaluation of chemical substances used in production processes. This compliance guarantees the maximum level of health and environmental protection, ensuring that the materials used are free of prohibited or potentially harmful substances. The choice not to use chemical plasticizing and stabilizing additives, in addition to the natural characteristics of EVA, can make the tiles slightly more subject to production tolerances and slight modifications due to use.
