POWERLIFTING BARBELL 32
The diameter, around 32mm, of the grip part of this barbell guarantees a high resistance to traction, to fatigue and to improper uses, with relatively low costs of production. Performing exercises like the half-squat or the deadlift with this barbell may allow the athletes to load it with heavy weights and to make short and sudden movements, that may imply the overcome of the yield point levels of a “common” 28mm diameter Olympic barbell.
Another feature of the 32mm diameter barbell is stability, as it flexes less than a 28mm diameter one, and this could be useful for exercises like squat, deadlift and bench, which are usually linked with powerlifting, bodybuilding or athletic preparation. A higher flexibility of the barbell is instead useful for weightlifting exercises, like the barbell snatch or the barbell press, both for reasons of performance (load progressiveness) and for reasons of impact absorption (less ‘whip effect’).
The Powerlifting Barbell 32 (cod. 9015) is therefore very resistant, very stable, but it also transmits significantly the load to the athlete.
Also the grip knurling reflects these features: being larger and thicker, it guarantees a firm grip and avoids the slipping of the barbell, which can occur more easily with the fine knurling of a training barbell. For what concern the grip, besides the knurling, it is very important the role of the 32mm diameter: we believe that the negative effects of the increased diameter (which implies a slightly larger opening of the hands) are surely less relevant than the positive ones. The 32mm diameter implies indeed less pain on the palm of the hand (“cutting effect” of the barbell) and less twisting of the barbell on the hand (therefore without tearing the calluses).
The 9015 barbell has also a central knurling.
