GIANT MED BALL
Giant eco-leather medicine balls. Very sturdy yet soft to the touch. They offer a moderate rebound and are specially designed for functional training. Available in a wide range of weight increments, from 4 to 20 kg, their diameter remains the same despite their weight.
The use of Giant Med Balls enhances speed and power in load transfers, demanding the athlete to continuous coordination and stabilization, encouraging correct posture. They are widely used in group training, personal training, pair work, and athletic preparation. Their finishing prevents the risk of injuries during high-speed workouts. Besides, the eco-leather is easy to wipe and clean. These balls are not recommended for slams or violent throws against the ground because you could damage them. The material used for their realization is eco-leather for the outer shell, sandbags, and cotton clothes for the internal padding.

Giant Med Balls have carved out an important place for themselves in the world of training thanks to their qualities and vast application possibilities. Their diffusion has taken place mainly in functional training, which involves the realization of daily movements in a sporting key and, at the same time, takes care of the posture and execution of the same.
Thanks to its “significant” dimensions, this type of tool are advantageous in athletic preparation protocols, core-training, and strength training. Unlike the classic med ball, the Giant Med Ball are also medium soft. This makes the grip and uses easy, comfortable, safe, although more challenging.
At the end of the reference motor scheme, numerous exercises provide an explosive part with the ball’s throw towards a wall or a slight rebound. The tool’s versatility is such that you can perform entire workouts by training all parts of the body (legs, core, trunk), reaching different goals depending on the specific needs. Beyond its numerous applications and its construction features, what makes the Giant Med Ball unique is also the possibility to be used in confined spaces. Within the context of a home gym, for instance.
Imagining an entire workout, we have to consider that the simple fact of holding a large ball in our hands implies an important isometric work to condition the entire scapulohumeral track, which implies a potential improvement in terms of posture.
With the correct execution of the exercises proper to functional training, it is possible to use the tool either as an overload in the execution, for example, of lunges in the three planes of movement, or as a base of unstable support on which to perform push-ups, or, more generally, as an overload in exercises dedicated to strength, speed, and coordination, i.e., the components of the movement. Whether introductory (general) or specific (special), the coordination skills are certainly those that can benefit most from the training performed with the Giant Med Ball.
Very important benefits because motor coordination is one of the fundamental prerequisites in sports performance. Beginners can train essential coordination through slow motor circuits. Let’s take a concrete example
One of the most known and widespread exercises is the “TORSION CRUNCH“. Performed by holding a large medicine ball in your hands, this exercise, in itself technical and challenging, becomes even more effective and training for the abdomen, i.e., the complex formed by the abdominal rectum, the internal, external, and transverse oblique, particularly stimulated by the partial rotation of the torso.
Note, however, that although the focus is on the abdomen, it is impossible to perform the exercise without involving other muscle groups as “support and frame”. No less important, the muscles that support a correct execution of this movement are mainly the femoral rectum, the ileum psoas, the paravertebral, the grand dorsal.
For the execution to be correct, the athlete has to pay attention to some tricks; starting from a sitting position, heels raised from the ground, “hammer” feet, pelvis in anteversion, torso slightly tilted back, rotations performed in an orderly manner, with the Giant Med Ball that follows the movement of the torso.
These are, therefore, global exercises, which imply an excellent knowledge of the movement. For this reason, it is recommended to learn the execution with the help of a professional trainer.
