Q: Simone, why the name “IL PROGETTO” and what characterizes this new initiative?
My experience in the fitness world began with CrossFit®, which I explored and developed with Progetto CrossFit® Faenza. I’ve always admired Greg Glassman’s original idea: a conditioning and strengthening program designed to offer complete wellness, based on functional, varied movements at high intensity. But the most valuable part has always been the community that forms in the gym. IL PROGETTO is my dream of creating a space that is much more than just a training facility; it’s a center for bringing people together, where everyone finds support, motivation, and the right tools to improve themselves at 360 degrees, both physically and mentally.
Q: What activities do you offer?
We offer a wide range of activities, many inspired by the CrossFit® experience, and others designed to support and enhance overall wellness. We have a weight room, Functional Bodybuilding, Postural, YogaMobility, specific training for girls, running courses, Crossfight, Krav Maga, and a kids’ program. IL PROGETTO offers group classes and personalized programs, tailored to each individual’s needs. Outdoor activities and participation in events and competitions are also important: we’re not only focused on performance but also on personal motivation and well-being.

Q: So, a multidisciplinary approach?
Absolutely. We’ve created a well-curated, inclusive, and complete environment. Although I love a spartan workout, I believe the quality and comfort of the environment are part of the experience. Here, you’ll find one-on-one training, small group sessions, and a variety of equipment like kettlebells, ropes, rings, medicine balls, and wide spaces to move freely. We embrace the concept of hybrid training that combines functional, bodybuilding, powerlifting, and endurance, aiming to maximize results and optimize training for each person.
Q: How do you see the evolution of fitness?
Fitness is becoming increasingly inclusive and comprehensive, shifting from pure functional training to a hybrid approach that meets everyone’s needs, whether they’re athletes or fitness enthusiasts. It’s essential to balance strength, mobility, endurance, and coordination to handle diverse physical challenges. Today, physical training isn’t just about muscle building but about moving at 360 degrees.

Q: IL PROGETTO seems to promote a more “analog” approach, in contrast to the growing trend of digitalization and connection in the fitness world. What’s your position on this?
The increasing digitalization in daily life and sports has led many people to seek more authentic and “disconnected” experiences when it comes to physical activity. There’s a widespread desire to disconnect from screens and return to living the body directly and without digital intermediaries. IL PROGETTO aims to be a place of “digital detox,” a space where individuals can focus on the present moment, on tangible, real experiences. Our wellness vision responds to the needs of the modern world, characterized by sedentariness, overeating, and other lifestyle-related issues. Digitalization has added a new layer to sedentariness, where the mind can become inactive, overwhelmed by constant connection. For us, wellness means finding balance through movement, without distractions, and cultivating physical and mental health in an authentic and human setting.
Q: So IL PROGETTO promotes free spaces to train movement?
Yes, besides CrossFit®, we wanted a space that allows for movement training in all its forms. It’s not just about exercises on machines, but about reactivating fundamental movement patterns for complete well-being. Training includes multi-planar, high-intensity movements, with or without added loads, to stimulate every aspect of physical fitness: from joint mobility to balance, from agility to coordination. Much of physical and mental wellness is built on these foundations.

Q: What goals do you have for the future?
My dream is to create a community that shares a passion for physical well-being and an active lifestyle. I would love for IL PROGETTO to be not just a place to train but also an inspiring space where people find motivation and support to reach their goals, always putting wellness and health at the center.
