According to this principle, the intensity of the workout is directly correlated to the power applied by the user: the aerodynamic resistance of the flywheel increases with the square of the speed, so doubling the rotation speed quadruples the air resistance.
This mechanism differentiates Air Bikes from traditional bikes with flywheel and magnetic or contact resistance. The resistance increases proportionally with the intensity with which the user pedals and pushes the handles. To decrease the intensity, simply reduce the speed of the pedaling and the pushing of the handles, allowing for natural and immediate control of the workout. This type of resistance control, based on the intensity of the effort, simulates important psychophysical factors, improving the effectiveness of the total body workout.
