RUBBER COATED WEIGHT PLATES – SYMMETRICAL GRIP
The new Sidea Rubber Plates introduce a premium high-density rubber coating characterized by a silky finish obtained through microsandblasting. This sets a new benchmark for the price-to-quality ratio in this disc category. The surface yield is clean and homogeneous, reaching a quality close to Polyurethane (PU) finishes while maintaining a more accessible price point.
Handling is extremely comfortable, an advantage particularly evident in heavier weights (15, 20, 25 kg), especially during loading onto barbells and plate-loaded machines. The symmetrical grips and rounded edges further improve ergonomics, making the plate usable individually for one- or two-handed exercises, such as:
-
Halos (rotations around the head)
-
Weighted Crunches
-
Woodchoppers (diagonal twists)
-
Goblet Squats
-
Lunges (with plate at chest or overhead)
-
Calf Raises
-
Overhead Walking Lunges
-
Squat to Press
Beyond high quality and density, the rubber coating stands out for its thick shoulder, designed to offer a wide and protected contact point. This shape ensures a soft and highly absorbent resting surface, keeping the internal cast iron structure well-protected from impacts and abrasions.
The 9030/3–9036/3 Rubber Plates are not suitable for dropping and must not be dropped uncontrollably from height. However, they can be used for deadlifts, provided these are performed in a highly controlled manner on adequately rubberized surfaces or, preferably, on Sidea Drop Mats 0404.
The construction combining high-density rubber and a cast iron core results in a noticeably thinner disc. This saves significant space on barbell sleeves and machine pins, allowing for increased load capacity.
The central hole features a rounded stainless steel ring, designed to guarantee fluid and immediate insertion on both Ø 50 mm barbells and machine loading pins. Its rounded shape also allows it to be used as an additional grip point, avoiding the typically sharp edges of machine-worked rings.
