2703 Control Jump Rope Ø 5 mm
For jump rope training, Sidea offers two models made with PVC-coated steel wire cables:
- 2703 Control Jump Rope Ø 5 mm
- 2708 Premium Speed Jump Rope Ø 2.5 mm
The two ropes meet different technical needs. The main difference lies in the cable diameter, but the handle structure, rotation smoothness, and the type of use for which each model was developed also play a role.
The 2703 Control Jump Rope Ø 5 mm is a high-control jump rope, designed to offer a smooth, stable, and easily manageable rotation. Its goal is not to maximize speed, but to allow the user to clearly perceive the rope’s movement and maintain a constant rhythm during the exercise.
The PVC-coated cable, with a 5 mm diameter, promotes a clearer reading of the rotation. The user can better follow the rope’s passage, coordinate the jump with greater precision, and more easily correct any technical errors. This aspect is particularly important in the early learning stages, when it is necessary to build a regular cadence and acquire the correct timing between wrist movement, body posture, and foot placement.
The 2703 is therefore a rope particularly suited for those who wish to progressively improve their technique. It helps maintain a controlled rotation, avoid involuntary accelerations, and make the synchronization of the movement more natural. For this reason, it is suitable for beginners, but it should not be considered a mere “entry-level” rope: the coated steel cable still allows for reaching high speeds, making it usable by intermediate and advanced athletes as well.
The greater rotation control makes the 2703 ideal for cardio and conditioning workouts, warm-ups, coordination, foot speed, physical preparation for specific sports, and technical progression. It is a highly versatile rope, suitable for frequent and continuous use, both in fitness environments and athletic training.
From a technical perspective, the 2703 encourages learning the correct foundations of jump roping: a stable torso, elbows close to the body, rotation generated mainly by the wrists, low jumps, and quick ground contacts. These elements are fundamental to improving movement efficiency, continuity, and control, before moving on to faster exercises or ropes specifically aimed at maximum speed.
Due to these features, the 2703 Control Jump Rope Ø 5 mm is recommended for:
- beginners wishing to correctly learn the technique;
- cardio and conditioning workouts;
- general warm-ups and physical preparation;
- coordination and foot speed;
- technical work for combat sports, racket sports, team sports, and functional disciplines;
- progression towards more complex and high-frequency exercises.
The 2703 is probably the most versatile choice: it offers control, continuity, and ease of use, without sacrificing the responsiveness guaranteed by the coated steel cable.
Control Jump Rope 2703 and Premium Speed Rope 2708: Two Different Functions
The difference between the 2703 Control Jump Rope Ø 5 mm and the 2708 Premium Speed Jump Rope Ø 2.5 mm is not a simple difference in diameter. They represent two distinct technical approaches.
The 2703 Control Jump Rope prioritizes control, rotation perception, and technical progression. It is the most suitable choice for learning, improving coordination, training continuously, and building a solid foundation.
The 2708 Premium Speed Jump Rope prioritizes speed, responsiveness, and performance. It is recommended for those who already possess good technique and want to work on fast, intense, and high-frequency exercises.
Both belong to the jump rope family, but they meet different needs:
control and technical progression with the 2703; speed and performance with the 2708.
Why Sidea Did Not Choose Beaded Ropes
Beaded ropes, constructed with segments or beads along the cable, are often proposed as beginner ropes because they are slow, visible, and easily perceived during rotation.

After various tests, Sidea chose not to develop this solution. Beaded ropes are interesting from an aesthetic standpoint and offer a highly readable rotation, but they tend to be excessively slow and not very suitable for real technical progression. Their behavior is closer to that of heavy or strongly slowed-down ropes, reducing the fluidity of the movement and limiting the transition towards faster and more efficient executions.
Sidea’s choice was therefore to develop a control rope with a Ø 5 mm coated steel cable: a more technical, evolutionary solution that is more consistent with a progressive learning path. The 2703 offers control and ease of use, but maintains a sufficiently responsive structure to accompany the user even beyond the initial phase.
