Maintenance
These products are made of Latex. Over time, this material is susceptible to the evaporation of the chemical agents that make this type of rubber elastic.
To extend the life of this product, you can follow a few steps:
- Avoid leaving the loops outdoors when not in use, especially in the sun or strong light. Air, light sources, and UV rays accelerate the deterioration of latex.
- If possible, store them in a hermetically sealed bag after use.
- Avoid anchoring them on components with sharp edges (for example, some equipment racks).
- Wash only with warm water. Do not use cleaning products: Degreasers, alcohol-based products, and oils are all aggressive to this material.
- After washing and always before use, sprinkle the band with talcum powder. Talcum powder significantly reduces deterioration and improves use by preventing the latex from gripping hands or equipment, also providing a better feel.
- Upon receiving the band and regularly every 2-3 months after washing with warm water, you can lubricate the band with a silicone lubricant, such as “WD-40 Specialist Silicone Lubricant” (CAUTION! NOT the standard WD-40, which is aggressive). This procedure can extend the band’s life and prevent the white film typical of this material.
- Do not experiment with cleaning or lubricating with products that may seem harmless: for example, vaseline oil is harmful to latex, as is olive oil. Likewise, sanitizers or degreasers are very damaging. Adhere to the instructions provided above.
