Man has used and perfected, for hundreds of thousands of years, motor schemes that have allowed him to survive. In their long history, man has run, has climbed, has pushed, has pulled, has crouched, has stretched, and has reached a refinement of the brain-muscle axis that has guaranteed the correct use of muscle chains. Muscle chains are essential for human kinetic functions.
Man has, therefore, always used movement to overcome the challenges imposed by the environment, and this adaptation has established the natural rules of what we call health.
The environment in which man moves undergoes continuous changes. Today the human body is underutilized mainly due to technological development, which has imposed the sitting position for many hours a day.
The sedentary position has led to the disappearance of physical work, causing muscular, articular, and coordination deficits. All factors that contribute to the worsening of the health profile of people.
Fitness and sport are the territories in which the game should be played to improve living conditions. The Jungle Board is one of the most suitable tools to awaken the natural movement.
What is the Jungle Board
It is a wooden board of 160 × 100 cm, with some perforations, equipped with rungs to be inserted in them and create elements of support, traction, or thrust. Thanks to the crossbar that can be added to the top of the rungs, the opportunities for exercise are numerous.
The Jungle Board is easily transportable thanks to two wheels assembled at one end so that it can be placed on the wall reducing the bulk.
We can define the set of “holistic functional” training as the one targeted on the Jungle Board. The exercises include the global activation of muscles, allow you to develop diagonal and spiral movements in stretching, to promote what is the natural condition related to ancestral motor patterns. The work protocols are proposed both to beginners and advanced level users, thanks to the versatility offered by regulating the intensity of the exercises and coordination difficulties.
The conditioning that is obtained from this form of training can be defined as functional-postural. The physical adaptation concerns the improvement of muscle tone, naturalness of movement, and postural responses that tend to realign the back and decrease vertebral pain.
Jungle Board is a tool that was also created to practice pilates: the exercises of the classic method find the support of the rungs to encourage movement and to create motor alternatives.
The manual and training events help clarify the possibilities of using the tool and its potential.
The Carlini Method
Stefano Carlini has a long sporting background and career as a competitive athlete, dedicated to volleyball (Futsal Club Serie A) and athletics. He still participates in competitions reserved for masters.
He obtained the “Isef” diploma and a degree in Motor Sciences. Today, he teaches at the same university where he was a student in Urbino.
He has dedicated himself for decades to teaching fitness to trainers, has developed training methodologies, has been a physical trainer in the A-League in 5-a-side soccer. Still today, he is a trainer of elite athletes in his training studio.
He created and designed the tool. He also developed the method. The Carlini Method is based on the fact that the body needs objective references to proceed to a correct movement at the neuromuscular and proprioceptive level.
The rungs, acting as support and tools for traction and pushing, provide the opportunity to create peculiar “proactive movement” through exercises specific to his training methodology.
